Postponing The Finish Line

So I was all prepared to write about my 10K race recap, but I am so exhausted that I just don’t feel like I would do the experience justice if I attempt to describe it tonight. For now, it suffices to say that it was awesome and I will definitely journal about it tomorrow.

On a different topic, you know when your husband says to you, “I think that’s the worst thing I’ve seen you put in your mouth in the last nine months,” that you are likely making a bad decision. And then, when you actually end up making other poor food choices after that, it’s probably best to just write it all down and make sure you learn something from it. At least, that’s what I would do if that ever happened to me. Not that it did. Yeah. Look away from the food list…

- 11 glasses of water
- 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, mushrooms, and pepper
- 1/2 small Mandarin orange
- 1 mango juice drink box
- 1 fudge brownie protein bar
- 1 cheeseburger with onion, ketchup, and mustard
- 1 banana
- 1 piece garlic bread
- 4 cups fettuccine Alfredo with scallops, shrimp, mushrooms, spinach, and pepper
- 5 sweet potato fries with spicy mayonnaise
- 1 bite of sticky toffee pudding
- 1 brownie dessert with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and peanuts
- 1 scoop pralines and cream ice cream and 1 scoop key lime cheesecake ice cream on a waffle ice cream cone
- 1 mug caramel apple spice drink with whipped cream
- 1 fun size Flake chocolate bar

- 10K race completed in 57:01

  1. Can't wait to hear about the 10K! And well, we win some and lose some when it comes to food. =)

  2. o! Please! You just ran a and then forget'bout it. Tomorrow is always a new begining.

  3. I cannot wait to read the race report....

  4. Congrats on the race & hope you got rest!! On the food, hope you feel OK. Sometimes when we are not used to that, are tummy does not like it! :-)

  5. congrats on the race!! wow!!!

wait.. how did you manage to stop at FIVE sweet potato fries? they are my undoing.

water today, my friend.. WATER. :)

  6. I think the 10K will cancel out the calories! But I wonder why all the sweets...were they just around, or are you processing some emotions?

  7. Interesting questions Jenn raises? Those sweets are very unlike the you we've come to know. Are you eating enough good stuff to fuel this racing? 10K is pretty serious stuff. Have you ever read "Running for Women", by Claire Kowalchik? I'd highly recommend it as it was to me by a marathon runner who has the book memorized! It talks a lot about what to eat before and after long runs.

  8. To hell with it!! You ran a 10K, one slip into the abyss isn't gonna do you in. You'll be back in top form right away. AND...KUDOS on the run.

  9. Dude...since you posted the food, I'm gonna HAVE to ask if you're ok?? Not berating you at you too much for that...but it's just not like you to eat so many sweets. I had the same thought as Dawne...probably because we love you. :) With all of your running, I'd probably try to find my fuel from a different food group other than sugar. :) Big Hugs! Oh! And I just got back from the beach and posted a ton of pics...hop on over and look at all the fried crap i ate, lol. :)

  10. excited to see how you did!

  11. back from my little hiatus and CANT WAIT TO HEAR about the race!

  12. Thanks for being so patient; the race recap is up!

Jody, remarkable, my tummy is fine! :)

Amoslionhorse, I only recently discovered sweet potato fries; they are indeed the devil! Eek! (Thankfully my hubby loves them and ordered them so I was just picking off his plate yesterday.)

Jenn, Dawne, and Tammy, you know me so well! I was indeed feeling extremely emotional! It was all happy (as in, seriously jovial), but I know that I spent the second part of the day with an "I earned it" attitude because I was feeling so 'up'. I fuelled well prior to the race (I am always careful in the respect), but I never considered that the post run food had to be quality to. I think it started as a carb reload, but deteriorated into the "whatever I want" attitude I already mentioned. Dawne, I will keep an eye out for that book; thanks for the tip. Thanks to you all for being so great!!!
