Self-Examination

It’s time to get a little introspective, people. I want to know…

WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK?

… and now I want you to tell me what you are going to do to break free from whatever you answered. And, yes, I do think that you are capable of knocking through pretty much any barriers you are facing. It’s you, after all. And we both know that you can do anything!

Note: I accidentally left this up on the bottom of my site for a couple of days after I had initially created it, so you may have already seen it even though I meant to have it publish for the first time here.

  1. Honestly, I don't know what I'm going to do. I've done this a few times now, and for some reason I'm struggling a lot this round. How to break free? I'll be reading other people's comments, for sure.

  2. I think it is interesting that this is the first time I found your blog, and it is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you.

Have a few questions, if you don't mind... I scanned your blog for "How you do it" (Photos and your weekly weigh-in records- consistent losses - are the most inspiring I've seen in blog-land btw!) and noticed that you blog every single day. Do you consider that as helping your motivation?

Also, since you are so close to goal (as I am) have you had to work harder, change any habits? Just curious.

Is your eating plan... er... planned? Do you plan a week in advance or something? Do you count calories? Do you have a food preparation system? Just curious and looking for options :) Whatever you're doing seems to work! Keep up the success!!!

  4. I clicked a link (redirecting me to your blog). All I can say is - WOW. Without reading any of your posts and just scrolling through your monthly pictures, it's amazing what you've done in such short period of time. Very motivational, very inspirational, fantastic results.

I'll have to now go through and read everything. Keep it up!

  5. I have a feeling that regardless of what i try to do I will never lose weight ever! And I really have no clue how to change this attitude! I feel it kind of stops me from putting in my 100%.

  6. I want to change, but don't want to let go of what has been my safety net, comfort zone, or way of coping. I have all that to change and one day at a time it's not so overwhelming, but when I look at the big picture it makes me inable to make the choices.

  7. I do have fear of failuer BUT in times when money was better & I needed that as part of doing something I really wanted to do but feared, I did try. The things I really want to do but include fear right now also include the need for money & that is way lacking....

Need a job! Know anybody in southern CA that needs an honest person that does not have to kiss ass to do well in a job! :-)

  9. Wow! There is a lot of really honest feedback here...

Annalisa, the blogging has been a HUGE help in the motivation department! I know that keeping this daily online journal has helped hold me accountable and I am so thankful for it! Right now, I am finding that complacency (and just a few, stupid mistakes) are making things difficult as I am floating around my goal. For me, it's not so much changing habits as it is sticking with the ones I have formed over the last nine months. As for the food I don't plan and I don't count. I am a creature of habit and of easy prep (I don't do a lot of stove top; lots of wraps, salads, fruit, etc.) and that seems to work for me. Hope that all helps!

Brandy, I don't think there is anything wrong with taking it a day at a time. In my case, I didn't start off contemplating half marathons - that would have made me crazy and scared me off of this path for sure - but instead just moved as much as I could (mostly by simply walking). Do what you can and the rest will follow. Don't become frozen by fear brought on by being overwhelmed, but rather wecome the opportunity to do just one tiny thing you might not have done before.
