Celebrate Good Times

I feel like I have been doing a touch too much celebratory eating over these past few days. I haven’t had anything really awful – and, yes, I even include the McDonald’s cheeseburger from yesterday in that sentiment since it is a complete anomaly and much better than the super-sized meal it would have been just over six months ago – but I still think that I need to reign it in.

I don’t want to become too lax just because I hit a big milestone or due to the fact that I am quickly becoming happier with my body and health. I certainly don’t want to start undoing all my hard work and I know that I have it in me to push to my posted goal weight and beyond. I’m not done yet!

Just to be clear with myself, being out with a friend who wants sushi is not a good enough reason to have that particular item when I was initially planning on salad. Opting for fast food, when I felt like commemorating a personal victory, just because the healthier options didn’t seem exciting enough is not a great plan. Being in a wonderful mood is not cause to regularly order fancy coffeehouse drinks.

I have been in such an incredibly positive place the past few days, but I really need to remind myself to stay focused. After all, continuing to be committed to this new lifestyle will give me a lot more to be happy about in the long run than enjoying a few treats in the here and now will ever provide.

FOOD & BEVERAGES:
- 8 glasses of water
- 1 banana
- 2/3 cocoa coconut cluster energy bar
- 8 pieces of a California sushi roll with soy sauce
- 1 mug of coconut steamed skim milk
- 3/4 low fat spiced apple yogurt with 1/2 cup granola cereal
- 3 cups orange pepper and mushrooms with calorie-wise three cheese ranch dressing

EXERCISE:
- 35 minute step workout video
- 35 minute belly dancing workout video
- 25 minutes of the C25K program (Day 2 of Week 3)

  3. Doing great!!! It always pays to stay focused yet real. I never eat stuff just because I am out with others or they want me to. It always comes down to if it is worth it to me & do I really want it & is it worth the calories. If not, I pass. I rather not waste my calories on just so-so food or food that just happens to be there.

  4. Come on!!! Woo-hoo!!

Sorry...that's the first song on my Richard Simmons' "Dance Your Pants Off" video. :o)

What's wrong with sushi? I thought it was fairly low in calories. No?

Yes, don't let the celebratory eating get out of control. That's what I do, and why I'm stuck in the 190s instead of moving on down. I celebrate everything.

  6. Thanks for the support, gang! You are all fantastic and really help to keep me on track.

CactusFreek, I am very, very lucky that I have the time to do so much exercise right now and am taking full advantage of it! I know it won't always be the case as the busyness of life will be in full swing again soon enough, but I am determined to keep doing an average of half an hour every day even when that happens. For now though, I use all the free time that I have to the advantage of this jounrey! As for the orange pepper, it's just a variety of sweet pepper (like yellow or red - it looks just like a green pepper except for the colour).

Lainey, sushi is a great choice and one I make often! I just meant that I had already decided to go for a salad (which would have been an even better option), but I caved the second my friend said she wanted sushi. I just need to work on sticking to my guns!

  7. Is sushi really that much worse than salad? I think with the right choices of rolls it doesn't have to be.

  8. Not much differnce at all, I know! (I think for the salad about 100 calories and less than a gram of fat compared to less than three times that for the sushi.) I just meant that I changed what I had already decided based only on what my friend suggested.
