Was That A Workout?

I'm not sure to what extent I should record doing chores and errands as exercise. I was on my feet for nearly an hour watering the plants in the garden and around the house, but because it's not an activity specifically meant to be exercise (it needed to be done) should I make a note of it? I was definitely sweating when I was done from walking back and forth with the hose and then a watering can. I did record just walking around the fair the other day, but that was because it was for six hours. If I were to go shopping at a supermarket for an hour should I make a note of that? What about washing windows or mowing the lawn? I don't want to write down something if it shouldn't be there, but I also don't want to fail to give myself credit for something that counts towards burning calories. Anyone have any thoughts?

  2. Sorry, trying to post a link in the comment section and messing up, lol!

I was trying to link directly to the video of Mizfit getting a workout at the supermarket, but you will have to copy and paste this instead:

I personally don't include my chores as workouts, but heh, I am lazy and keep those to the minimum, lol!

  3. I have seen websites that DO list household chores and their calories burned. I don't know how accurate they are, as one listed watching TV for 30 min. as using 35 calories. But some of the sustained activities might qualify.

  4. I personally don't count chores as exercise, but that's because I'm too lazy to calculate. They should count because some of them can be quite strenuous and do burn a fair amount of calories I'm sure. If you figure out just how many for certain chores around the house I'd be curious to know!
Also, make room for another Lovely Blog Award! I have one waiting for you over my way.
Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragent!

  5. My bugg reads ALL activity which includes the mundane stuff like housework or whatever. I say a calorie burned is a calorie burned regardless of how. (IMHO)

  6. Still not sure how I'll record those things... I think if it is fairly strenuous and sustained (like mowing the lawn or weeding the garden) I will probably add it to my list of excercise for the day.

Thak you so much, Amy, for the award! I really appreciate your (and everyone else's) support this early in my journey!
