Counting On Myself, Not Calories
I am on my way out the door, but I wanted to note that I left a message for the registered dietitian and actually got a hold of the other person who was recommended to assist me in looking into my calorie intake concerns. The man I spoke with has gone through the nutrition course, although he never actually paid to become licensed, so I feel relatively confident that he knew what he was talking about. After explaining my situation to him, he said that it needs to be an individual thing and that making this journey a numbers game will not pay off in the end. He believes I am going about this the right way, and that as long as I listen to my body, I will continue being successful. I am still hoping to speak with the dietitian as well, but my mind is much more at ease now!

I am glad to hear that you are more at ease.
ReplyDeleteSounds like sensible advice.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely good that you're feeling better about it. And while I don't think you need to count calories if you don't want to, I think it's probably worthwhile to educate yourself on the basic facets of nutrition. Realize that there is too little food, as well as too much, and take a look at what you can do. You don't need to necessarily pay a nutritionist, though. There's a lot of stuff out there online.
ReplyDeleteI splurged on a nutritionist when I started and it was a great investment. I was shocked at how low my food IQ was and we worked on a meal plan that worked for me. I kind of merged my meal plan with weight watchers and it worked great.
ReplyDeleteI was just really happy to hear from someone whose job it is to advise people on these exact subjects that I am not making mistakes. He was very reassuring!
ReplyDeleteHadley, I think I will take your advice and try to investigate more on basic nutrition when I have a chance. I have already learned a lot on this journey, but you can never have too much information.
Glad it was a positive experience and that you're feeling better!
