Looking For A Little Consistency

The scale has been up just a tiny bit these past couple of days since my last official weigh-in. I think I am starting to see a pattern emerging, but I'm not sure what to do about it. I weigh, spend a couple of days seeing a small gain, and then drop before the next Saturday. I'm not complaining about the fact that I am losing, but I would really rather get back to the consistently tiny losses that added up so nicely at the start of this journey. It was simply less stressful. Maybe a little later I'll look over the past couple of weeks' food and exercise records and see if I notice any trends which may be contributing to this irritating change.

  1. I know it's hard but you probably shouldn't weight everyday...it makes you focus too much on the numbers.

  3. I have funny patterns too. Maintain for 2 weeks then lose a few pounds a week, then start all over. In the beginning I saw a different number everyday, that was fun. :)

  4. Your body is getting ready for the next phase. It's reshaping itself. You might want to up your cardio exercise routine and look at your eating patterns. It might be a good idea to take some foods out and add some new healthy ones. Good luck!

  5. That's the great thing about keeping a log of our eating and exercise ... we can review and change things as needed. Are you adding a few little things here and there?

  6. ... I looked at your "shimmy" post and noticed that you were higher on the carbs than you normally are. Is your body sensitive to that? I know mine is. Perhaps that's put you up a bit on the scale.

  7. Take a look at your food journal and see if the answer lies there...
I gained 3lbs over a weekend and am also looking to see what possibly could have caused it as I ran everyday over the weekend and didnt go over my points allowed by too many...the joys I tell you.

  8. Angie, I have actually given that same advice to other people before and I maintain along with you that it is more sound for many to only weigh weekly. However, for myself, I have been very successful with weighing every day since I use it as an information gathering tool more than anything else. For me, it is not a focus on the scale number, but rather a concentration on discovering what works and what doesn't (as this jounrey is still new to me) that I gain from looking every day. Thank you so much for you comment!

Lyrisgirl, I like your take on this. I may very well attempt to implement some of your suggestions.

Fitcetera, thank you for checking out my records and noticing the higher carbs. I had a family dinner and it was one of those 'eat what is in from of you' scenarios which I got through to the best of my ability. It is not a normal thing, but I still think your advice is wise and I will be keeping those carbs a little more in check.

    Thanks to everyone for commenting!!!
