Slightly Anxious

Today I started on Week 5 of the C25K. This is the first of two podcasts that give different instructions for each of the three days. The next session will be similar, but with alternative directions specific to Week 6. At the end of both this set and the next there is only a single run consisting of twenty and twenty-five minutes respectively. Then the final three rounds (consisting of nine days in total) are all composed of just non-stop jogs.

I am definitely getting to a point where the program is feeling a bit more intimidating! The intervals have been great for breaking down the mental barriers about running because I always feel like there is a walk coming up that I can look forward to. Soon that won’t be the case and I have to admit that my confidence is not overly high about what’s to come. I hope I can do it.

Tomorrow is going to be a bit of a long day. My father-in-law is going in for surgery on his arm in the morning and my man and I will be spending most of the day with my mother-in-law while her husband is having the operation and in recovery. I don’t think that there is much to worry about, but I certainly won’t turn down any offers to send positive thoughts his way! Needless to say, I won’t be posting anything during my normal earlier time, but I will be back with an entry in the evening as usual.

  1. GIRL YOU KNOW I GET WHAT YOU ARE SAYING (yes I shouted :)) about the *intimidating*

its trite but for me it is still so true: fake it till you make it.

    we can do this.

you know, pretend we are woggers (walkjoggers) until all of a sudden we really are.

  2. You my friend, are a shining example of how it's done.
I can learn from you! Seriously---I have known about the c25k program for how long?? Too long---and I haven't tried it---I just muddle along. But you---You are tackling it in grand style! I must do it too! Thank you for that! I'm intimidated horribly when it's running time---and I go easy on myself to quickly.
Your food diary is awesome. Keep up the incredible work my friend!

    My best always
    Sean

  6. You can do it, 266!

I'm still 204 pounds and finishing up the last week of the C25K program. I agree with you that the long, straight through walks are intimidating, but you know what? I've been doing it.

I sometimes dread it as I'm driving to the gym, and even when I'm starting on the treadmill. Yet, I keep telling myself things like, "just get through these five minutes. Good job! Now 5 more minutes. Oh, look you're halfway done!! In 15 minutes this will all be over."

I'm slow as a snail when I'm jogging, but I've made it through all of the straight through jogs.

Your weight loss journey is amazing and I think I can speak for anyone in blogland that you've shown us you have what it takes to finish anything you started! You're doing great! Don't give up. :)

  8. You are definitely capable to keeping on with the C25K. I know that running for longer distances may seem a bit intimidating, but I would be surprised if you don't feel such a sense of accomplishment that you want to keep going!

  9. You will definitely have no trouble. I was terrified of the 20 minute run but once I had that under my belt, I knew I could run the rest...and really, the 20 minutes wasn't that hard. I have no doubt that you will breeze through it. :-)

  10. I have zero doubt about you being able to complete the C25k. I know you can do it...I know it.

Sean commented on your food diary, and that's what I was going to do. I love that you post it every day. I was thinking tonight I need to start eating more fruit and salad like you do, and WAY less meat. Deli meat has too much sodium in it anyway and I think cutting it out would make a big difference for me. Decreasing the meat intake will be a major challenge, since I'm such a carnivore. I keep telling myself, "But it's protein!!" Yeah...I probably eat 3x more protein in a day than a normal person, lol.

I'll be lifting your FIL up in prayer...you can never have too much prayer, no matter what the situation is. Say one for me too. Thank you friend. :)
